The Marine and Coastal Environment Division of the Ministry of the Environment is the national authority responsible for preventing coastal and marine pollution. Its action plan is based on the following: inspection and enforcement, permits for discharge or dumping to sea, environmental quality standards, oil pollution abatement and cleanups, monitoring and international cooperation.
